Selection Process

Selection is based on Stages I to IV and meeting the medical standards. Qualifying in every stage is compulsory.

  1. Stage-I: Computer Based Examination at an SSC-allotted centre.
  2. Stage-II: Held at ICG recruitment centres, 1–2 days. It includes identity and biometric verification, Physical Fitness Test, Assessment & Adaptability Test, document verification and recruitment medical examination. All of these are qualifying only.
  3. Stage-III: At INS Chilka, 1–2 days. It includes Aadhaar-based identity check, document verification, pre-enrolment medical, and submission of originals and police verification forms. Candidates reach INS Chilka at their own expense.
  4. Stage-IV: Verification of original educational and other documents with the concerned Boards/Universities/State authorities. A candidate is terminated if documents are reported not genuine.

Final merit is based only on Stage-I marks, plus qualifying in all phases of Stage-II. Assessment test marks are not part of merit and are used only to break ties. Tie-break order: older age first, then higher Assessment Test marks. Merit lists are zone-wise and category-wise for Navik GD male, and All India category-wise for the other posts. Stage-II date and centre are chosen by candidates on a first-come, first-served basis.
